Along with the shooting of the film, Ritesh and Genelia changed their perspective towards each other and became friends. In the year 2004, they worked together in the film ‘Masti’ and from here their love blossomed. Both of them were so intoxicated with love that when they were away from each other for some time, they started writing letters to talk.

In an old interview given to Outlook, Ritesh had revealed that when he was dating Genelia, there was no such thing as video calls. At that time, calls and messages were very expensive during outdoor shooting and in such a situation, when the actor went to New York for 30 days and Genelia was working in South films, then both of them decided to write letters to each other.
The marriage proposal was no less than a fairy tale.
Riteish Deshmukh told that when he and Genelia met after 30 days, he read all the 30 letters exchanged. The couple dated secretly for many years and finally revealed their relationship by getting married in 2012. Riteish took Genelia on a speed boat and then on a boat, where he proposed Genelia for marriage with pizza and crackers.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia got married not once but twice. First they got married as per Maharashtrian customs on 3 February and then got married in a church the very next day. Now the couple has been married for 12 years and they also have two sons. Ritesh and Genelia are very active on social media and are often seen posting couple photos.
